ReelTidy review

Many anglers like myself own tackle boxes. I personally have the Shakespeare Beta Box. I have found the more organised it is, the more you can carry in it, that is why I like to keep nice and tidy. One way of doing that is by using a ReelTidy designed by Dave Mills of Damiltech Solutions.

I first had the pleasure of meeting Dave Mills in the Winter of 2013 whilst out fishing for Cod. Dave designs, manufactures and sells products under his company name of Damiltech Solutions based in County Durham in the North East of England.

Dave is as passionate about fishing as he is about designing and making components to fit the Shakespeare Beta Box and Team Box to help and assist the angler with ease.

In this review we will look at his design of the (ReelTidy) which fits the inside lid to hold multiplier reels of your choice in place.

The ReelTidy was designed after having problems with safely storing and transporting reels with a gearbox on the side. After designing several different prototypes the ReelTidy as we all know it came to be. It is designed in such a way that it holds the reel in place as the manufacturer designed it to be used. Namely held in position by its reel foot.

Made from a durable type of plastic and with the use of an elasticated cord, it holds the reel in place by means of both postioning slots and elasticated tension. It is mounted to the underside of the seat box lid via self tapping screws which are included in the ReelTidy kit along with a fitting template .

Although at present it is not a totally universal fit it will accomodate most reels with a riveted or bolted on metal foot. Those reels which have a cast all in one cage and foot, whether it be made of a plastic or aluminium require a slightly different ReelTidy but they are available.

At present all ReelTidy are made on a made to order basis with the customer just simply stating which reel they want the ReelTidy to fit. You can make these orders on the Damiltech Solutions page found on Facebook where Dave will be happy to assist. The page also features various other designs which are brilliant in there own ways.

The standard ReelTidy will hold multipliers up to a 30 size, examples are Diawa Saltist 30, Diawa Slosh 30, Penn 535.

He has recently made a beefed up version of the ReelTidy to accommodate a size 50 Saltist reel which is part of an order which is heading overseas where shark and big game fish are their targeted species.

I would highly recommend these products to anyone. I have my Shakespeare seat box fitted out with a full conversion kit. I love it and it keeps all my equipment in its own organised place.
