After a poor day’s pike fishing on Wednesday we had planned an evening trip last night, but with heavy rain most of the day then the threat of fog it didn’t bode well for us, but the sea conditions weren’t too bad so we went for it, also with poor light it meant fishing into darkness.

Railblaza’s New Illuminate i360

Enter my new toy, Railblaza’s New Illuminate i360, I’ve want to try this out for ages, when I first got it we left it on over night and most of the next morning but after 16 hours the light still shone bright I switched it off to save the bulb. The light fits into any Railblaza Starport Mount, and with no wires or extra batteries needed, its small, light, and a huge bonus for me ….it floats.

Once on the beach the light and visibility was poor so I switched the i360 on, opting for the half power mode which gives you 160 hours of life, no chance of it going flat then. Paddling out the sea was boiling with Mackerel feeding, the sprats jumping out the water followed by the Mackerel feeding. I moved on as I hate fishing for Mackerel, opting to troll a deep diving minnow for Pollock. Peter picking up the first good sized fish, and me not far behind when my first Pollock near on ripped my arm off.

Reaching the light house I stopped and had a chat with a guy from Sluice in his boat, asking about the light he said he could see it a mile away. With the light fading the fog was worsening so we turned for home, following the GPS on the Dragonfly as I’d set a waypoint when I left the beach, fishing on the way, both of us pulling more Pollock and beautiful Kelpies out.
By the time we were half way back it was dark.Total fish 3 Pollock 1 Mackerel for me, 4 Pollock 5 Mackerel for Peter, 5 of the Pollock were over 6lb so very happy with the stamp of the fish.

So to the i360 light, fantastic it ticks all the boxes for me, not only a brilliant Nav light in the dark for night fishing, but also the illumination in poor visibility ticks the safety box, as Peter said I stood out like a sore thumb. The build it top quality, and with winter bait fishing at anchor just round the corner this is a brilliant bit of kit to keep us safe.
