I have a big week full of fishing this coming week, so if the reports are short or remain the same for a couple of days then forgive me in advance. I am sure that this week will see a lot of fish coming from the beach, rock marks and the boats. Good steady winds and medium sized tides promise to deliver some excellent summer fishing. A word of warning to all. The cliffs in the area are treacherous at the moment. The huge amount of rain has caused multiple landslides and rock falls at the Western end of Chesil all the way into Devon and to the East of Weymouth Bay, especially from Ringstead through to Chapmans Pool. Because of this I will not be forecasting for those areas for at least the next week as they are too dangerous to fish.

Water Temperature: 14.6*c                 Weymouth High Tide: 11.35pm, 1.93m

Wind SW 12mph

Sea Conditions:

Chesil Beach: The beach has calmed down a lot but there is still a bit of a swell running. The water has a milky tinge to it.

Portland: Slight swell with small waves. Water has a slight milky tinge to it.

Portland Harbour: Calm. Water is clear

Weymouth Bay: Calm but the water coming from the harbour is very dirty and contains lots of fresh water.

Chesil Beach forecast: The beach is looking good this morning. I will be spending most of the day on it down at Ferrybridge area, so hopefully I will get my own forecast right and catch some fish. My target for today are Bream, Trigger Fish, Smoothound and Red Mullet if I am lucky. A bonus Bass would be nice but unlikely during the day. I have stocked up with Peeler Crab so lets hope that at a £1 a go they do well. Other options if you can get threre due to flooded roads will be Abbotsbury and West Bexington. They should be good for Plaice and Dabs during the day and Rays and Smoothound and Bass at night.

Portland: With clearer water the Wrasse and Pollock fishing will return back to the form it was in earlier last week. Have a go at fishing soft plastics for Wrasse and you might  pick up a bonus Bass during the day. Try soft plastics at night and you will have a high chance of catching a decent Bass. I had a quick fish down at Church Ope Cove yesterday. On my way down I discovered Portland had a new waterfall and stream.

Portland’s new stream

Portland Harbour: Flounder and Bass from Hamm Beach and Sandsfoot Castle, though the Bass are few and far between. Mainly due to the commercial fishermen netting the harbour.

Weymouth Bay: With so much fresh water coming down from the harbour it is making fishing very difficult. Tonight’s junior competition on the Stone Pier will give a good indicator as to how it is likely fish for the next couple of days.

Boat and Kayak fishing: Great opportunities for all types of boat fishing today. The Weymouth Charter Fleet will be out targeting Bream from the banks. Smaller boat owners can get to a lot more marks with the better winds.
