When I started this website I had two goals in mind:

1. Provide an resource that would help fellow fishermen to get the most out of the knowledge I had of fishing in Dorset and in particular Chesil Beach, Portland, and Weymouth.

2. Promote the lure fishing revolution. To be honest this is really my main focus, as I have had so much success since I have switched primarily to lure fishing that I want everyone else to be able to join in and share the excitement I feel for this ever growing branch of fishing.

I have to say I am pleased and shocked by the high number of people that view my site on a regular basis. I thank you all and I hope you all get something out of it. One thing that has become apparent to me over the past few months through chatting to people and through email, is the lack of understanding from the basic level all the way through to some of the very advanced techniques. To help alleviate this I am proposing to run a program which will include workshops tailored to small groups at different levels, as well as one to one lessons and guiding. If I can persuade one of my guides, then there will even be a lure making workshop. This will give anyone that wants to either start or advance their fishing, the opportunity to spend some time with an expert and learn skills that they can then take away and improve on.

I wont go into too much detail in this post as to each individual course or lesson, with the exception of the basics workshop, but I would like to get some feedback as to the level of interest that is out there. The guiding will be carried out by some of the best in the area and will be fully insured and all guides will be CRB checked.

Basic Workshop: If the interest is there I shall be running regular separate workshops for both bait fishing and lure fishing. Each workshop will be for 3 people at the most and will cost £20 per person for the 2 hours. If you are thinking of buying a lure set up or already have a rod and reel, but so far have had little success in catching fish, then this course is ideal for you. The initial courses will be run from Weymouth.

The format will be as follows:

Introduction

Kitting out. There will be a number of different budget level set ups available that we will swap between ourselves over the duration of the course, unless you want to stick with your own set up. This will allow you to experience the different actions of a number of rods, from £30 entry level rods up to £300+ Century HPR and different reels.

Water session. You will be shown a number of different water areas and shown what to look for and how to read the water (this is one of the most valuable lessons and can never be learnt from reading a book)

Lure Choices. From my considerable selection of lures you will be taught how to use individual lures, as there are a number of ways that different types of lures can be used depending on the conditions. You will also learn when, where and how to use different lures. The instructor will help you fine tune your technique. This part of the course could save you considerable money in the future, by allowing you to try out lures in different price ranges, to see if you think it is worth forking out £22+ on the latest Meggabass or Ima lure.

Debrief and Q&A session. The instructor will go over what you have learnt and you will have the chance to pick their brains.

A similar format workshop will be run for bait fishing. More advanced courses will be created, these will include fishing with soft plastics and LRF (light rock fishing).

One on One lessons are available on any subject and will cost £20 per hour. Guiding prices will be posted soon along with full details of guided trips.
