I want to wish everyone that is coming to Weymouth and Portland for a holiday this summer a happy holiday.

The next few weeks are going to be pretty busy with the Olympic sailing events, but don’t let that put you off from fishing in the area. Sure you will want to steer clear of the piers in Weymouth, but Portland and Chesil Beach will still be relatively easy to access, and fishing should be fantastic.

A lot of the Weymouth charter fleet that are not on Olympic duties have spaces available on them. This is very very unusual at this time of year, but lots of regulars have wrongly assumed that all the Weymouth fleet were already booked up. If you are looking for a boat with space then drop me an email and I can give you some contact details of boats that have places.

I am sure the Olympics will be very entertaining, but if you are fairly new to fishing or want something different to do whilst you are on holiday, then give fishing a go. I have teamed up with one of the local tackle shops to offer an Olympic special: A 12ft Shakespear Beach caster, a Le Peche fixed spool reel loaded with 18lb line and a 2 hour fishing lesson for £60. You get the rod and reel to take home with you and all the knowledge that I have taught you over the lesson. Similar deals can also be arranged for lure fishing and appropriate kits will be on offer. This offer is available to locals and holiday makers alike.

If you are looking for things to do in Weymouth this summer then think fishing.
