As promised last week I am going to do a once a week round up of what the local charter fleet and private boats have been catching. I am going to start of with just the Weymouth and Portland boats, that I have permission from to publish their catches. I hope to have West Bay and Poole included next week, but feel free to let me know of any boat catches from the whole of the South coast. For information on the South Coast charter fleet look on the DeepSea Directory for all the contact details.

Chris Caines on Tiger Lily seems to be on fire this week. He has had some lovely fish from the Shambles with 5lb 9oz Plaice and another at  5lb 6oz for James wolfendale. Chris managed to get into some cracking Turbot and a good few big Blondes for his customers.

Josh Simmonds, skipper of Fish-On, has been keeping his customers well entertained this week as well. Variety along with decent fish has been Josh’s key to success this week. It looks like the whole charter fleet will be staying in harbour on Thursday, but then it should be back to the fish for the weekend.

One of Weymouth’s youngest skippers Lyle Stantiford, skipper of Supanova, has shown that although he is young, he is great at finding the fish, with one of the best fish landed this week, a huge Tub Gurnard for Phil Mathers at a massive 7lb 10oz. He caught it whilst drifting for Turbot. They managed quite a few Turbot on the trip as well.

Private boats have had a good week as well. I was out with my friend on Sunday, where we had a great day just fishing round Portland Harbour. We had plenty of nice Pollock and witnessed  few other boats landing Pollock, Mackerel, Wrasse and Garfish. Almost all of out pollock came on a Savage Gear Sandeel in Pearl White.
